Root for the Bravos, If They Don't Win it's a Shame

Saturday (August 11) Bryant, Emerson, and I headed to Grams & Pop’s house to have a little fun and cut our trip down just a little bit.  Emerson was in 7th heaven between seeing Pop on the lawn mower, going to Northside Park and then Peggy’s for supper!  He even got a special made grilled cheese.  We did NOT want to leave the park but Grams and Pop’s house always has great toys to distract.

Sunday we decided to leave after breakfast but not rust.  So, about 8:45 or so, we Loaded up the car and headed to Atlanta (minus Grams…but maybe next year).  For some reason, I got super motion sick so Bryant let me drive most of the way.  Pop took a few naps, but Emerson...oh no!

After a Wendy’s lunch and driving all the way into Atlanta, Emerson finally fell asleep as we neared the hotel.  But, we were able to check in, unpack, and take a walk.  Well, Pop and Emerson did.  Then, we all went to Grant (not Ulysses S.) Park and played with Emerson.
We love to just play in the grass!

Whee!

Keeping Pop busy

To round out the day, Pop, Bryant, and Emerson had supper at Dakota Blue.  Dakota Blue wins the Most Awesome Restaurant in the World award for being so kid friendly that there is a toy corner!  After all that fun, bed time came all too quickly for Emerson!

Monday saw a trip to the Georgia Aquarium after breakfast.  The aquarium started opening at 10am on Sunday the 12th, so we headed over to Olympic Centennial Park.  They have a wonderful All Children’s Play Park and I think Emerson liked it just a little!

A few minutes before 10, we walked across the street to the aquarium.  I think Emerson liked it, but it was a tad overwhelming all at once.  Since school started there that day, there was a much smaller crowd.  We ended up not seeing the dolphin movie but we saw everything else.

Lionfish!

On the boat!

Checking out the Belugas

Penguins

Emerson loved looking at all the fish and various creatures but he hasn’t fully grasped the concept of Plexiglas enclosures.  He was a little scared of the big fish swimming at him.  The new frog exhibit was pretty cool!  There were so many cute frogs!  Of course, the prettiest are the most dangerous.

After our trek back uphill Pop, Emerson, and Bryant ate lunch at Corner Bakery and we headed back to the rooms for a nap.

Emerson woke from his nap and it was time to head to Turner Field for game time!  We headed out a little before 5:00pm so we were able to walk around and see all the fun stuff (and play of course).  We were able to catch a little bit of the Padres practice, including watching a little pitching pregame warm-up and the pitcher gave Emerson the warm-up ball!  Ball park suppers are the best!  (why oh why did I have to start my meal replacement diet now?!)  A friend tweeted to tell me about possible bad weather moving through so luckily we were able to time it so we were heading up to our enclosed level as the rain started.  After supper, the rain was gone and game time had only been pushed back 20 minutes! By 7:30 we were underway!  We lost to the Padres 4-1 but it was still lots of fun.  Emerson was getting a little ornery and decided our seats were not sufficient so he had Daddy take him down to the lower level to an empty area to play and watch the game.  First they ended up down the first base line then latter it was down the third base line.  Earlier, I began to wonder if Emerson would give Pop a rest!  At both the Aquarium and the game, Emerson thought Pop needed to carry him.

We got a ball from the Padres!  We
wanted to play catch with them!

Meeting Homer!

I want to play!

Game time!

It’s always fun to see the Bravos!  Now Emerson has been to a game during Bobby Cox’s last season and Chipper Jones’ too.  10:45 bedtime makes for an early wakeup call.  But it’s needed for the trip back to Philadelphia and Ridgeland.

Fair Times! Part 4

By Friday, we were all tired and ready to head home!  But we did get to have lots of fun having dinner with the Moore’s Friday night!  Emerson experienced plenty of fun, but it was nice to pack up Saturday morning and head home!

Now here's a few more pics to help relive the moments:
