Philly Farm Fun

On Tuesday Bryant needed to finish a forestry shortcourse he was taking with his dad in Philadelphia.  Since Emerson and I didn't have Kindermusik on Wednesday, we decided to tag along.  Bryant took a Wednesday off and we made a day of it.  Grams had a meeting so Emerson and I decided to waste a little time and have supper at Wendy's before heading over to the house to play.
we've discovered dipping into
honey mustard!
There's always so much to see and do at Grams & Pop's house.  Emerson has to get reacquainted with everything.  So, while we waited on everyone else to return, that's what we did!

All the toys, and we want to play with the computer,

more buttons!
After everyone made it home safely, it was past time for bed.  But Wednesday's schedule was jam packed with fun.

We knew playing on the farm would be Wednesday's main attraction, so after sleeping in a little, we made our way out to Dixon.  There's almost too much vying for Emerson's attention at the farm.  Between the barns, the trees, grass, leaves, sticks, rocks, dirt, and the tractor; Emerson could explore for days and be happy!  He is hooked on tractors and trains at the moment, so playing with Daddy on Pop's tractor was a blast.  So much so, that we did not want to get down at all!

Let's go!!

checking out the baby trees too!

Sticks.  Best toy God ever invented.

the grass is as tall as Emerson!  Perfect to play with!

We did have to leave though because we had to go make sure everything was okay at the fair cabin!  We didn't stay long though because Pop had to make a quick stop by the church before we headed home for lunch. Papaw came by for lunch too so we were able to see him Tuesday night and Wednesday before we left!  I just realized that I forgot to get a picture of Emerson with Papaw or Grams this time!  Oops! After our nap, we played and visited a little more before Grams and Pop had to head to church.  After having so much fun, we decided it was time to pack up and head home.

Is it fair time yet??
Easter eggs and napkin  holders go together quite well

A quick stop for supper and we were on our way.  Our arrival was delayed since we ended up on the side of the road for an hour.  Instead of taking the Natchez Trace as usual, we decided to take Highway 25 home.  In Lena, MS a lady tried to make it across the highway and didn't see a guy coming.  Thankfully, no one was hurt!  Selfishly, I'm glad it wasn't us and that it was in front of a gas station.  But while Daddy helped and waited on the Highway Patrol, Emerson and I had fun playing in the car and in the grass in front of the gas station.  We finally made it home and after our exciting hour on the side of the road, everyone decided it was bed time.

Take me out to the ball game

On Tuesday (17th) we took in another ball game at Trustmark Park.  This time the Mississippi State Bulldogs were taking on the Ole Miss Rebels...Black Bears...whatever...in the annual Governors Cup.  Grams and Pop joined us and even though State lost, we still had lots of fun with them and running up and down the isles around us.  While the crowd was fairly large, it wasn't as large as last year since it rained for most of the day and turned fairly cold (59°) after being in the 70's & 80°'s.  Emerson wanted to watch the game, play in the seats and only wanted to take a couple of walks around the park.

Batter up!

ZooTrain Take One

Another fun filled day!  Instead of sleeping in like Mommy & Daddy hoped, Emerson was awake bright and early at 7am.  I think the excitement got to him because today we took our first trip to the Zoo!  Outside, walking, playing, friends, & animals...what could be better?  We met up with our Kindermusik teachers; Ms Robin & Ms Mandy, along with some of the kids from other classes.  We even got to see our buddy Corland again.  Emerson was the youngest and the only one from our class, but that didn't stop him from having lots of fun and making a few new friends.

While there were a few exhibits closed for maintenance, it was a pretty cool adventure.  Emerson even decided to go into a "cave"!  He never wants to crawl into any kind of tube or enclosed space, so it was kind of funny that he decided to today.  One of the highlights today had to be singing to the kookaburras!  We were walking along with Ms Robin, one of the recent Kindermusik graduates, her little brother, and their mom.  (I feel so bad that I can't remember names at the moment.)  But we decided that the kookaburras needed to hear their song, so our recent grad decided to start it off.  We were trying to get them to laugh or sing (yes they really do that) but they wouldn't!  At least for us, once we walked away they decided to show their stuff.

Kookaburra
Australian Folk Song
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry, merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Eating all the gumdrops he can see.
Sing, kookaburra, sing, kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

We had quite a bit of fun just walking around and getting to enjoy the animals and the company.  Before we decided to head over to the picnic area across the zoo's parking lot, we had to ride the carousel!  Unfortunately, it took awhile to get running and Emerson was NOT into waiting.  He currently has my patience.  Hopefully, he'll be more like Bryant soon!  But all the tears immediately stopped the moment we started.  Once it was time to end, Emerson was again NOT happy!  He wanted to go again.

We all brought our lunches and we decided to make use of the picnic tables by the water just outside the zoo's entrance parking lot.  We didn't count on all of them being taken by church groups!  But being the resilient people we are, we found a tree and hung out in the shade.

We couldn't leave the zoo though without taking a ride on the train!  It doesn't actually run inside the zoo but in part of the park opposite the entrance.  It was a pretty cool small train on actual tracks that could carry around 50 people (kids and adults).  Emerson had a blast zooming around the park.

Orangutangs!  Our second stop...giraffes were first
but not very cooperative for pictures

Hold on tight spider monkey...quite possibly one of the
worst movie ad libs, but here...I think it works
