18 Months Take Two

Don't know why the formatting is not doing what I ask, so we'll try this again...

We did not want to pose!
This is the best we were able to get.

Oh Emerson, what would we do without you!   It's hard to believe it's been 18 months already.  Sometimes we wonder what we ever did without you.  You keep us busy, busy, busy!  Since we're leaving tomorrow for Sandestin, not to mention you're already closer to 19 months than 18, I should probably do this post.

So, what has our smart sweet boy been up to over the past few months?  Everything!  You understand so much of what we say and try to repeat much of it.  You go get your water cup, snack cup, or whatever else we ask for and you go over to your high chair when we tell you it's time to eat.  Sometimes, you don't want to do what it is and you take your time, but you eventually do it.  You've developed a bad habit of dumping your snack when you're done with it, but you're getting better.

I don't know what is so special about shoes, but you always want to wear at least one.  Whether it's yours, mine, or your Daddy's; it doesn't matter.

Curious is your middle name.  Getting into things is your game.  You are such a hands-on kid!  It's as if you need to know how something works, what's inside, or how is comes apart to survive sometimes.  The curiousness goes for people too.  When we're at the park, you want to swing where the other people are and it doesn't matter if it's "your" swings or the big kid swings (which you're really good on!).  The play sets that are "too big for you"...nope it doesn't matter.  You've got to be where the action is.  Of course, after awhile you're ready to just play by yourself, but you've got to make sure you know what's around first.

There are so many words you can say!  We may not be sure of what you're trying to tell us sometimes, but you're getting better at it.  Right now, you'd much rather show us than tell us anyway.  It's so funny how you'll say truck, car, water, Pop, Papaw,  or whatever to us but you refuse to say it around anyone else.

That brings us to your current favorite word, Choo-Choo.  You love trains.  We've got to take you to see a real train one day soon!  But you have three toy trains and you love to watch Thomas & Friends.  You love Choo Choo Soul on Disney Jr but we don't seem to catch it much anymore.  It's so cute to watch you dance to the intro and outro title sequences for Thomas (or anytime you dance to the music for that matter!).

There's so much you're seeing, learning, and doing!  I know I haven't covered all of it, but you're almost finished with your supper and you'll be off to bed shortly.  Tomorrow we head to the beach!

...Since you finally wanted to pose for me...

I wish you had put down Mommy's Coke bottle,
but you just had to keep putting the top on and taking it off.

Happy Father's Day

We were not ready to pose but we were ready to play with our awesome Daddy!

Zoo Train Take Two

This past week Emerson moved up to the next level in Kindermusik.  We started Village with the summer camp classes, so it's only right that we move up to Our Time during the summer camp.  We had loads of fun on the Allie-Allie-O Zoo train!  The summer camps are always fun since they are every day for a full week.  Emerson's buddy Janae came with us to this class and we were able to catch up with Ms Brenda, Madeline, and Owen from our trip to the Jackson Zoo earlier in the spring.  I did accomplish the unthinkable though.  I managed to strain my knee as I was getting up.  Luckily, Emerson had Daddy and Grams step up and come with us to play with him on Thursday and Friday.  It's always sad when the sessions come to an end, but now we're looking forward to August for the Milk & Cookies session!

Let's get on the Allie-Allie-O!

Last minute fun

This morning started out a little earlier than normal.  Emerson woke up before 7am, so after breakfast we decided to head to the park.  Bryant needed to help one of our friends from church move, so we decided to play.  But, we decided that since Reagan and Lane were taking Ellington to see the dinosaurs at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, we'd go too!  It was fun!  Emerson thought the dinosaurs were cool and I'm not sure he knew what to look at first once we went to the other exhibits.  There was just so much!

After we met up with Bryant and had lunch with the gang at Brent's down in Fondren.  After saying our goodbyes, Bryant, Emerson, and I decided a trip to Campbell's Bakery was in our future.  Pretty good morning for having no absolute plan when we woke up!

Waiting and watching

Think they're excited??

Memorial Day

Ah, Memorial Day weekend.  After Emerson being sick for a week and Mommy being sick, we needed a fun break.  ...And fun we did have.  Since I wasn't feeling so well, Grams made the trek to Ridgeland on Friday so Emerson could spend the night with them!  It was Emerson's first night without us and apparently he was ready for it!  They had a blast!  He even got to play with Gus.  Poor boy wants a dog, but has a mean old Mommy & Daddy.  Who knows...maybe one day.

Saturday rolled around and we all made it to the Fair cabin.  When I say all, I mean ALL!  Grams, Pop, Reagan, Robert, Lane, Ellington, Bryant, Emerson, and I were all there.  Papaw was missed, but he showed up on Sunday after his trip to Vicksburg.  We needed him for our Jackson Family Property Family Meeting after all... Emerson finally had his first real chance to play on the rocks in front of the cabin.  Buckets, plastic wagons, plastic cups, himself; those rocks occupied him for awhile!  It's amazing what will occupy kids for long periods of time.  Rock and sticks are a certain little boy's favorite toys.  I think Ellington had fun in them too.  He and Ellington also had a mini pool party.  They both loved pouring the water out.  Emerson got a kick out of splashing even though Ellington wasn't quite as enamored.  But Ellington discovered the awesomeness that is leaning on the pool and letting water flow out.  In the end, Ellington may not be 100% sure about playing with Emerson yet, but Emerson sure is ready to play with her!

Before supper Pop decided that we needed to go blueberry picking.  So he, Bryant, Emerson, and Reagan took a short trip down the road to bring home 3 gallons of blueberries.  While the others were picking these 3 gallons, Emerson ate another gallon all by himself!  Apparently, its more fun to pick off the vine/bush and eat than it is to put them in a bucket for later.

Sunday saw us all at First Baptist Church in Philadelphia.  This was the first time Emerson had ever been to FBC Philly and the first time all of us had been there at the same time in years.  The last time had to be before Ellington was born, maybe four or five years ago.  I can't believe it had been that long!  It was wonderful to see Dr Dan, Mrs Marsha, and the other familiar faces!  Hopefully, we can take Emerson back to the church his Daddy grew up in before too much longer.

All in all it was a fun weekend, but made us even more ready for Fair time!

Its rock time!
