This past weeks outings

On Wednesday this past week Emerson came to visit Daddy at work. He got to see some of Daddy's co-workers and they all commented on how cute he is. He enjoyed checking out daddy's office and meeting all the nice people. After the office visit the three of us went to Madison and had lunch at Backyard Burger. It was the first meal just three of us had eaten at a restaurant. The few times we went out before there was always someone else along. We had a great time and Emerson kept trying to grab Daddy's hamburger. I guess they look tasty to even a 3 month old.

On Saturday the three of us headed downtown for the St. Paddy's 5k. Bomgar had a whole slew of employees and their spouses there. We actually walked the 5k! And didn't come in last. Emerson slept through half of it and the latter half just sat in the stroller checking the scenery out. Several people commented on how impressed they were that mommy was already out and doing a 5k. Isn't she impressive? Emerson got to meet even more Bomgar folks and as usually charmed them all. Don't remember our exact time, but it was somewhere around 50 to 51 minutes. Not exactly record setting, but I'm pleased.
That afternoon Emerson made his first trip to Lowes with Daddy. Emerson and Daddy decided Mommy needed a few minutes to herself. We went and picked up a few supplies. Emerson was quite impressed with Lowes and could have spent a long time in there checking everything out.

We rounded the week out with our second trip to church. This time we stayed for Sunday School. Emerson nearly made it the entire time. We were paged a few minutes before Sunday School was over as it was time for Emerson to eat. He had been at the church for just over 2 hours and we are very impressed with his stamina.

Isn't he cute in his new Sunday clothes

This past week

Here lately Emerson has really gotten into sitting up facing away from whoever is holding him and into the room. Of course he can't hold himself up so you have to really watch what your doing. But it is so interesting how he really wants to know what is going on around him know. He will even sit proped up in a chair or on the couch as long as you watch and don't let him tip over.
 Emerson as Linus

He has also become a master at getting his hands in his mouth. He has been doing it for a few weeks now, but here lately it seems that he can whenever he wants. He also has gotten better about getting objects in his mouth such as his rattles or his "Sophie" giraffe.
The final impressive feet for the week is Emerson was finally able to pull the ring on his play-mat which causes the ladybug to play music. He has been pulling it for a while, but finally worked up the strength to make it play.

Catching up from last week

We have gotten a little behind lately so allow me to catch you up.

On Wed. the 9th mommy had a big moment in Emerson's life. She let Emerson stay with Grams and Pops while she went to Target and Leap Frog. This was the first time that Emerson hasn't been in the same house as mom or dad. Emerson and mommy survived the seperation and I think they both even enjoyed it a little.

Then on Thursday Aunt Reagan came by to keep Emerson for a couple of hours while mommy went to get her hair done. Mommy hadn't been to the stylist in a while and enjoyed the opportunity to get out. She did clutch her phone the whole time just incase their was a call and she needed to run home. Once again everyone did great.

Finally the icing on the cake for the week was Emerson made his first visit to church. Mommy & Daddy had been visiting Highland's Presbyterian before he was born, but hadn't been back since. Well on Sunday we all got up (though Emerson almost overslept) got dressed and made it in time for the early worship service. We dropped Emerson off in the nursery and attended the worship service. Mommy let Emerson stay with strangers for the first time. They were great in the nursery and Emerson got all the attention as he was the only one in his age group at that time. To be honest I'm not sure mommy and daddy got much out of the service that morning as they were preoccupied worrying how Emerson was doing and staring at the pager they had to see if Emerson had flipped out. In the end it didn't go off and we made it through the service. As it was our first time back we left after the worship service deciding we weren't quite ready to tack on an extra 45 minutes to attend Sunday School.

Leasson's Learned #2

Now that you have a kid make sure to check the trunk for strollers and other baby item before make a Walmart run.

Sunday when I got back to the car with a buggy full of groceries I opened the trunk and it had a big ole jogging stroller in it. I got creative and got some of the groceries in the trunk and others in the back seat strategically placed around the car seat (which of course takes up half the back seat).

3 is the magic number

Emerson,

Wow.  3 months already.  You’re getting so big!  It’s so much fun to see the changes in you, especially over the last month.  You’re a very active baby.  You don’t like to be still for long.  Naps are something you only do when you have to since it interrupts your valuable play time.  But, much to Mommy and Daddy’s delight you have been sleeping 7 – 8 hours in a single stretch at night.   You don’t like tummy time at all but that’s ok since you’re well on your way to becoming a master at holding your head up.  We see lots of cute faces, smiles, and you’re so close to a real laugh!

Toys tend to go in your mouth when you get them in your hands.   While Mommy and Daddy still have to help you get a hold of your toys, you’re trying your best to pick up your favorite rattle and your Sophie giraffe.  Shaking that rattle or your tree rattle has become your favorite thing to do.

On your play mat and bouncy seat bar, you are starting to discover that you can use your hands to move the toys.  Grabbing on to your musical ladybug has become normal and one day soon you’re going to pull it.

But our favorite has to be how talkative you’re getting!  You talk up a storm to Mommy and Daddy and make the cutest noises!  You started up a cute conversation with Grams one day and you even charmed the doctor and nurse at the breastfeeding clinic last week!  You just couldn’t stop talking with them!  We can’t wait to see what happens at your doctor’s appointment next month.  I don’t think we have to worry about moving up too quickly from your size 1 diapers but you’re going to outgrow the length of your 3 month clothes very shortly!

You’ve had a couple firsts this month.  You’ve had your first baseball game and you even got to cheer for both teams!  You did so well that we almost stayed for the whole game.  You’ve been to another state now and you’ve also visited that crazy place we call Wal-Mart.

We love you and can’t wait to see what you show us next!
