First Fathers' Day

So we're a few days late but Happy Fathers' Day!  Bryant didn't want to do anything special so Emerson gave him his presents before church then after church we had a nice lunch at Daddy's choice (McAlister's Deli).  Then Daddy blew up Emerson's pool to go "swimming" for the first time!

...and an especially Happy Fathers' Day to the best daddy ever!!

Busy Days!

June 13-17, we did the Kindermusik Summer Camp at First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Emerson had a blast!  He was just taking in everything.  He even managed to learn to shake the "shakers" and not try to eat them all the time.  Of course, most of the time they were in his mouth but he did learn.  :)  There were two one year olds who were just walking and a 4 month old (who's 3 year old brother showed up also).  One of the kids (a 18 month old) needed a little more action, so he went ahead and moved up.  But Emerson had a blast with Corland, Ben, Brooklyn, and Nathan.  He was enthralled with the music and dancing!  His new favorite toy is his little bell shaker we got in class.  Emerson's love of swinging was even entertained as we used throw blankets as hammock swings.  We had so much fun singing, dancing, exercising, and playing with the other children, that we already signed up for the two fall classes which includes the one that I'm excited about, the Sign & Sing!  I haven't had a chance to use sign language in a long time and while I'm very rusty, it will be exciting to relearn and use it with Emerson.  We didn't take many pictures, but here are the few that I remembered.

6 months...

...OK so we're a little behind this month.  But we've been extra busy exploring and learning!

So Emerson...you've been up to quite a lot from 5 months to 6.  At your last Doctor's visit you weighed in at 17lb and 8 oz and are at 2 ft 3.5 in tall.  You're still in the 50% for weight and at at 75 -80% in height.

You've rolled over (tummy to back) a few times, but you are fickle about doing it again.  You despise laying down now that you've learned to sit up.  Dr. Hopper was ecstatic to walk in and see you sitting up so well. (even though you were playing your favorite game at the doctors---tearing up all the paper on the table.)

You discovered the ability to arch your back and look behind you while you're laying in your crib to check and make sure Mommy and Daddy are coming.  Before long I think we'll see you rolling from your back to your tummy.

You've started baby foods but luckily you don't need to eat them for your nutrients.  You eat them much better than you did cereal but you love to play in the gooey feeling more than anything.  It doesn't matter what we put in front of you either.  No matter what it is, you'll eat it!  Peas were not your favorite the first time around but the second time, you loved them.  Sweet Potatos were your first and are your favorite.  You have a habit of grabbing whatever we happen to be drinking and want it too.

Everyone thinks your serious face is hilarious.  You like to take everything in and watch whats going on.  You don't give away smiles, but you are happy and excitable once you get used to a situation or place.  Ms. Karen is your favorite in the church nursery, and you make the other ladies a little jealous!

You've cut your first tooth and we're so excited!  It looks so cute when you finally let us catch a glimpse.  Most of the time though, we have to settle for just feeling it.  You dislike the teething rings when we give them to you cold and Mommy and Daddy's fingers have once again become your favorite chew toys.

It was a fun month and we can't believe you're already 6 months old!  It seems like we just brought you home!  But watching you grow and discover is the most enjoyable and rewarding thing in the world.  We love you so much!
