7 months!
7 Months! Well Emerson, how do you like life so far? Seems as though you're pretty happy. As long as you have something to chew on you're ecstatic! Your two bottom teeth are in and you love chewing on anything and everything. We're betting that third one will come in any day now.
You want to hold everything! From our drinks, to our plates, to all your toys and the basket they stay in. Everything just has to be touched. Your jumperoo is still a favorite place to play, but only because you can spin around and put everything in your mouth. Of course, you love to play your song while you eat, so the buttons have to be pressed first. You have discovered that toys aren't just for eating though. You like to shake your shaker eggs, bells, and rainstick before they become chew toys.
Mommy and Daddy do have to say thank you Emerson. You're such a good baby! You tend to go to bed about 730pm and don't wake up until 630am...sometimes even 700am! You are horrible at nap time though and Mommy usually has to rock you back to sleep once or twice so you aren't cranky the rest of the day. But just between us, (ha! ha!) I'd much rather you sleep at night without waking than during the day.
You love music and have gotten to where you "dance" a little (if you're in your jumperoo). If you start to get fussy, a little song will make you smile. Mommy and Daddy have make up some silly songs just for you!
As much as you dislike your car seat, you love to get out and explore. Baseball games, shopping, Roller derby...it doesn't matter.
What are you going to show us next month??

Destin 2011
The last weekend of June we spent in Destin, FL.We stated in a condo with Grams, Pops, Lane, Bert & Ellington. Pops has a convention at Sandestin every year and this year we decided to join them. We traveled down on Saturday and returned home on Wednesday. We had a 3 bedroom condo overlooking a hole on the golf course (and the parking lot). It was nice to all be in the same place, but have our own space.
The drive down on Saturday went surprisingly well. While Emerson only slept about an hour and half, he only fussed a little. For the most part he was content just riding, this was surprising as he normally doesn't like spending time in his car seat. When we arrived in Destin, we met Grams & Pops at Harbor Docks for some fresh seafood. Since they arrived first they were nearly done by the time we got there. When Emerson got tired of sitting at the table Pops took him for a walk down on the docks to look at the boats. After that, we headed to the hotel where we meet the Connerley's and settled into our room. We got the kids room in the condo, which worked out great as it had the most extra space to spread out Emerson sleeping tent and an extra bed to serve as his changing table. We just took it easy for the remainder of the evening.
Sunday was pool day. We got up bright and early, well Emerson got us up bright and early. Bert headed down the pool to save us seats in the shade. Emerson got to try out his Nemo swim pants in a real pool. He had a blast splashing the water and being carried around in the water. The Connerley's brought Ellington's inflatable floatie and he enjoyed sitting in it for a while (of course he really wanted to eat it). However it wasn't long before the pool wore him out and Emerson and Mommy headed back to the room for nap time.
For supper just the three of us headed to Cheeseburger in Paradise and had some delicious cheeseburgers. Emerson had fun for a while, but supper took too long and he wanted to be held about the time the food arrived. Emerson as always had his admirers and a little girl about 5 couldn't bear watching him any longer and had to come over and say hello. She was so sweet with him. Then we headed back to the hotel for some much needed zzzz's. Speaking of sleeping, prior to the trip we had been putting Emerson to bed without swaddling him. We brought the Swaddle Me along just incase, but Emerson wasn't having that and we had to Swaddle him each time we put him down.
Monday was shopping day. Pops had meetings all day so the rest of headed down to the outlet mall. Emerson got plenty of new outfits from The Children's Place, Carters, Baby Gap, and Osh Kosh. Emerson made it through most of the stores. Then he got a little hungry so we feed him and then Dad and Emerson strolled the parking lot till Emerson fell asleep while mom finished the shopping. After a full morning of shopping the whole gang headed to McAllister's for lunch.
That night we went to The Back Porch for supper. That place was supper crazy. There were people everywhere waiting to be seated. That did give the us the opportunity to give Emerson his first exposure to the beach. They have a beach behind the restaurant. We walked down and let Emerson put his toes in the sand and water. While Dad was trying to photograph Emerson he was hit with a big wave that soaked his shorts. Finally our name was called and we headed upstairs to our table. It was a lovely view high above the beach and the waves. The food was delicious and a good time was had by all, only Emerson needed a trip down stairs for a brief intermission (after all he likes to be on the move).
Tuesday was beach day and we learned something about Emerson. While he enjoys the sound of ocean waves (from his sound machine) and splashing in water, he does not like the real ocean. After meeting Pops & the Connerley's down at the beach and covering Emerson in sunscreen, we took him down to the water and he quickly let us know he did not want to spend the day at the beach. We managed to get a few good pictures before heading up to the pool where Emerson had a blast splashing in the water and being carried all around the pool. In short Emerson is a pool man.
Tuesday saw a nice long nap on the part of Emerson and then a stroll around the resort. We had supper that night with the Connerley's at Acme Oyster Company on the resort. Grams and Pops had a reception that evening so it was a nice opportunity for the kids to get out and play. We rounded the evening out by visiting a few shops, including the candy shop. Mom got some chocolate covered strawberry's and dad got some candy cigarettes (can you believe they still make those).
Then Wednesday arrived when we had to pack up and head home. Emerson must have been worn out as he slept from Destin to Mobile where we stopped for lunch at Panera Bread Company and a quick stop at Best Buy to discover they music selection leaves a lot to be desired for. Then Emerson slept half the way from Mobile to Jackson. He enjoyed another first on the ride back which was getting to eating baby food while riding in the car, ain't life grand!
