Just because...

Baseball @ Trustmark Park

State vs USM – On April 6 Mom, Dad, and Emerson meet up with Grams and Pops at Trustmark for the baseball game. The atmosphere was exciting as USM was ranked in the top 25 and the park was packed. Emerson did good early on, but the problem was that it was cold. We walked Emerson around the corridor, but he wasn’t in for shivering through a baseball game. Halfway through 4th Mom & Grams headed back to the house to warm Emerson up. Dad and Pops stayed at the game to see an exciting state victory.

Grams is soooo much fun!

Braves vs Jackson Generals– On April 8th it was Bomgar night at the Braves. Bomgar once again reserved the 3rd base Terrace and several suites. We got there just as the game began and visited with a few folks before getting in line for the essential ballpark meal, hotdogs. Kelli was kind enough to hold Emerson while Mom & Dad got a bite to eat. Emerson loved hanging out with Miss Kelli and let her hold him for a while. Emerson went back to dad and after a while decided to take a little nap. Mom had a great time catching up with some of the Bomgar ladies while dad held Emerson. We lasted till the middle of the 8th when Emerson finally began to get fussy. It was a great night of fun for all.

Miss Kelli is my new favorite person

I'll always love my Ms Adrienne!

MSU vs Ole Miss – On Tuesday the 12th Mom, Dad, & Emerson meet up with Pops and Pappaw at Trustmark for the Governor’s Cup. Pops had gotten four tickets just behind home plate. It was perfect baseball weather. Once again it was an exciting atmosphere with another packed house. When we first got there Emerson let Pappaw hold him for 30 minutes. It is rare that Pappaw gets to hold one of his great-grandchildren that long as they always want to be on the go. With the great weather and all the game day excitement Emerson was content to hang out in Pappaw’s lap. Mom & Dad were even able to enjoy their hotdogs without worrying about dripping mustard on Emerson. State pulled out the victory and Emerson made it through all 9 innings. It was a victory all around.

Watching the game from Pop's lap is fun!

Papaw's cane keeps me entertained!

4 Months

Emerson, it’s been four months already.  It’s so amazing to see the changes and growth you’ve made.

Weight 14.5 ilbs which puts him in the 50th percentile
Length 2’2” which is in the 80th percentile (just like dad long and lean)

Everything that Emerson can get his hands on immediately goes into his mouth. He is discovering that he can manipulate items to get a better bite or suck on something. He uses both hands now in putting items in his mouth and can even move items from one hand to the other. Of course his favorite thing to put into his mouth is his fingers. They are so easy and so tasty.

He sleeps from about 8 to about 6 every night. It is a nice long stretch for mom & dad. He still occasionally wakes up early, but dad can usually get him back to sleep with just a pacifier and some gentle rocking. He is still working on his naps. He is a little better about sleeping every couple of hours the only problem is we don’t know if it will be 10 minutes or 2 hours. Emerson likes to keep everyone guessing.

Emerson is enjoying “talking” these days. We get all kinds of squeals, ooh’s, and other sounds. He will just lay on his playmat talking away. When he gets upset I swear I hear a momma, maybe just his way to whimper but it melts your heart.

Emerson is getting too long for his 0-3 sleep and plays (the ones with feet). He is even too long for his 3 month ones. Good thing for onesies which don’t have feet, they fit much better.

The doctor’s visit at 4 months went well. Everything checked out just fine. Of course he had to get shots which he was not at all happy about. Luckily mom was there to calm him down rather quickly after those painful shots.

That crinkly paper is fun to play with

So we got a little behind…

Ok so we’ve gotten a little behind on our blog posts.  Even Bryant typing them up at night hasn’t worked recently.  But here we go with a few posts to update on what’s been going on in the world of Emerson.

Back on April 2nd we took what was Emerson’s second trip to Philadelphia.  Grams wanted pictures of Emerson and Ellington together. Reagan rode down to Philly with us and Emerson did great on the ride down he slept and just cruised along. When we got there he ate and then visited with the Philly family. He took a little afternoon nap and allowed mom & dad to get in a little shopping. Finally around 3 we headed out to Burnside Park for the photo session. First thing, Emerson wanted to eat so Ellington went and had some photos taken, meanwhile Emerson had a poopy-plosion. Fortunately he only got his shirt soiled so we were able to switch it with a new shirt and his overalls were fine. We then proceeded to attempt pictures with Emerson and Ellington. Ellington was just not interest in taking pictures and Emerson wasn’t interested in smiling, that is how it goes with little ones though. The photographer was able to get several individual shots of the two of them. Photographing kids can certainly be an adventure. That evening Pappaw joined everyone for supper. When headed home and Emerson was not a happy camper. He screamed from Philly to Sunrise so we pulled over at the church to let Emerson eat a little. He calmed down so we headed on. Of course he got upset again. About the time we hit Carthage we were thinking we would need to stop again, but he fell asleep which was a relief to all.

Just hanging around with Aunt Reagan
