Destin 2012 Day 1 & 2

On our way!

Ah, Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, we meet again.  Thanks to Pop attending the Southern Feed and Grain Convention, Pop & Grams let Robert, Lane, Ellington, Bryant, Emerson, and I tag along to Destin/Miramar Beach, Florida.  Traveling with a toddler…not the most fun thing in the world to do.  But, Emerson did better than I worried he would.  I still would love to own at least a share in a private plane for trips like this, but alas it’s not in the budget.  The DVD player did keep Emerson somewhat entertained.  We were all glad to stop in Spanish Fort, AL to get out of the car!  We ate at Panera Bread then walked around the shopping center area for a little stretch your legs break, then it was back in the car.

Smart little ol’ me forgot the directions we printed so we could remember how to bypass Fort Walton Beach.  Cell phone maps still leave a lot to be desired and by the time we realized the iPhone maps app had changed our route, it was too late.  We had to take a trip through Fort Walton Beach.  This mistake caused a six hour trip to become an eight hour one.  Emerson was over it way before it began, so Bryant and Emerson walked at least half the length of FWB, if not more.  I lost sight of them in no time!

But alas, we made it to The Grand Sandestin and were able to go to Acme Oyster House with the family.  We even got to take a little walk around Baytowne Wharf.

So happy to see Grams!

Leading the way
Tropical storms aren’t usually a real problem for us, but when you’re on the coast, they can be a real downer.  TS Debby kept us inside almost all day Sunday.  We made a quick rush out to the pool just to get a little time in before it was too late.  It was quite fun.

The rest of the day was pretty fun too.

Rainy day coloring!

Gotta check EVERYTHING out

The cabin fever is getting to Uncle Bryant and
Ellington

Can't use them in the pool?  Ok.  they make awesome
hats too!

Ellington catching a ride from her Daddy

Emerson gets in on Uncle Robert's action

Chillin' with Ellington's princess microphone.

Sing for us Grams!

Not really sure what happened here, but I couldn't resist
Although, I think more than a couple people ended up with cabin fever pretty quick!  The grandparents were able to keep the kids, so Sunday night became date night.  Apparently, Emerson had a blast but let Grams know as soon and it was bedtime.  However, Bryant and I went to Pompano Joe’s and were able to hang out on the beach a little since there was a 45-50 minute wait and we really didn't think it would be that long.  But we were able to relax, just talk, and enjoy.
